Evaluation: Question 2 - DRAFT

1 comment:

  1. Again splendidly organised with excellent examples from your print productions. To strengthen the section on your magazine advert you could add something like...

..traditionally the notion of a trackless forest links to the mythical nature of this space and its role in the world of the imagination. The forest is a recurring motif in Grimm's Fairy Tales. Hansel and Gretel's evil stepmother takes the children deep into the forest and leaves them there; Red Riding Hood skips through the forest to take food to her grandmother. In Enid Blyton's "Folk of the Faraway Tree" the children find a huge tree where on each branch is another land.

In Tokein's "Lord of the Rings the Hobbits live deep in a forest, and in Jane Campion's film "The Piano" the deep forests of 19 century New Zealand is where she feels at liberty to follow her passion....

A few ideas here but it would be great if you could explain that.....

.. the connotations of a forest links strongly to the images of fairy tale characters who inhabit your digipak panels 1, 2 and 4, and to the mise-en-scene in your music video thus strengthening the coherence of the package.

If you have time I'd add another section with an image of the forest from one of the texts I've mentioned. Watch on you tube "The Piano - He chopped it off! - Scene" a film about a mute woman who is a mail order bride and is sent to New Zealand with her daughter to 1840's New Zealand.....a brilliant film. You could upload this clip or upload from YouTube "The Piano Trailer".

If you are stuck for time then try to get done by Monday 30th midnight. This inter textual reference would add hugely to your evaluation.

    At present Level 3-4
