Camera Angles and Lighting:
The over shoulder shot will be the first shot featured in our video production as an establishing shot that introduces the main protagonist and the setting in which she is placed in.
When filming, our group ensured that we varied our angles, particularly focusing on close-ups, in order to present our female protagonist to our audience.
We found the low sunlight a problem and therefore a way in which we solved this problem was by using an umbrella which blocked the sunlight and allowed us to alter and control how much light we wanted so that the image on the camera was visible.
Costume and Props:
Finding the right costume for our different fairy-tale characters was both difficult to find and expensive. Therefore a solution was to make it ourselves which, as a result, made it more personal, and we were able to customise it to how we wanted it to look in our video.
The use of the black ribbon incorporated in this hairstyle was significant for the transition from the female character to the first fairy tale; Alice in Wonderland. A crucial aspect of Alice's costume is the black bow hair band and therefore, as a signifier, we incorporated the ribbon into this hairstyle so that the connection can be made so when the transition occurs, there will always be similarities.
A prop used in Alice in Wonderland is the bottle saying "Drink Me". Therefore we incorporated this, alongside the black ribbon, as a signifier before the transition to the first fairy tale. We also were inspired by the tea party scene within the same film, where Alice first meets the Mad Hatter, and therefore we felt that this would be a good connection for the transition from the female protagonist to Alice in which she meets the Mad Hatter. Also, this image can be used when creating our print productions as it is a significant aspect of our music video, and the colours are vibrant and bold which, I feel, perfectly represent the theme and tune of the song.
