Coco and the Butterfield's EPs

It is important that my digipak reflects both the song and the band effectively and therefore by researching their previous cases for their EP's, I am able to identify their target audience and what the band are trying to present.
'See The Sun' EP.   The front cover predominantly features their logo, immediately establishing them as a band. This logo is then a continuous motif used in their other EP's and other promotional items such as posters and merchandise (t-shirts etc). Their audience can then identify the band when they see the logo making it an appropriate feature to include in my own digipak design. The simplicity of the EP then highlights this logo, and since it is their first one, it allows their logo and band name to be established and easily identified for their audience.

'Fip Fok' EP. The banner is extremely prominent on the front cover and is a great logo to feature on my digipak. The image I will use will feature one of the characters in our music video and therefore this logo will fit around it providing a neat and organised composition. A front cover that is too busy distracts the audience from the name of the band and what they're promoting. Therefore by simply using an image and a logo keeps it concise and effective, much like this EP which clearly states the band name and the EP name leaving no room for confusion for their target audience.

'King Of The Corner' EP.  The logo is yet again featured making it appropriate to feature somewhere on my digipak. The background also reflects and suits the genre of the music, folk. It has associations with folk tale and fairy tales making the theme of adventure and fantasy extremely relevant to the band's music style. Linking to the prominent theme of fairy tales in my music video, these associations are extremely appropriate in representing the band and music video in order to appeal to our target audience.

'Warriors' Single. Whilst this is not an EP, the promotional aspect of the song in which we have created a music video for, is crucial in helping my group and I understand the band's intentions of the song. The picture clearly depicts different types of warriors (using the band members) and is therefore strongly linked to our music video with the portrayal of different fairy tales and the warrior aspect of that. Therefore, the picture of one of our characters is extremely apt for our front cover of the digipak by closely linking to the theme of Warriors, which is our intention.

  1. Am interesting evaluation of the use of motifs in cover art. Well done Chloe for strongly linking this to your print production planning.
